Wednesday brought the year nine crew from Manor Lakes to The Summit! We started with the introduction of the five keys, and then the goal setting strategy. Day ones focus was Have Fun and Play All In. We hit the ground running, getting straight into the first three rotations of activities: Summit Window, Snakes & Nails, High Wire, Bush Challenge, Inflatables, and, Orienteering. By the end of the first day, the six tribes were known as:
1. The Gods
2. Dirty Mongrels
3. Sick Lads
4. Game Changers
5. Team Annihilations
6. Dragon Warriors
Day two started with the introduction of Morning Intentions; choosing who you want to be that day. Our focus was on the next two keys: Make Lots Of Mistakes, and, Get Comfortable Being Uncomfortable. The morning saw the next three rotations finished and then it was lunch time! After lunch we had one rotation of new activities: Laser Skirmish, Giant Swing, Snowy River Challenge, Rock Wall, Flying Fox, Leap of Faith. Then it was time for the Monster Course. The Monster Course had everyone (including teachers) filling up buckets, carrying tyres, throwing balls, moving tyres, dodging balls, crawling over nets in water, and of course, some mud! Everyone was more then ready for the second lap and every tribe absolutely crushed it!
Day three’s focus was Don’t Go Home Wondering What If - the Fifth key. The concept of Gratitude was also a focus; with a change on what we do and don’t have. Most people focus on what they don’t have rather than what they do. It was a perfect message for the day as each tribe was doing three out of the six new activities and the students were told to look at what they get to do, rather than what they missed. The morning saw two more rotations and before we knew it, it was lunch time and nearly home time! A final wrap up was had, results were announced.
A big thank you to everyone for making camp a blast!
