Cire Community School - Berwick Year 10 Camp Blog

From the moment we met all the wonderful students and teachers of Cire (which I will from now on refer to as Siri, because of a heavy phone addiction!) I knew this week was going to be epic. The energy from Rihanna alone was enough to sustain the vibe the room had. After our official welcome, little intro video, and our Five Keys of Have Fun, Play All In, Make Mistakes, Get Comfortable Being Uncomfortable, and Don’t Go Home Wondering What If, we got stuck straight into it.

After a quick game of Finger Fencing and a promise to Harry that there would be some water activities coming, we went straight into our first activity of Bush Challenge where Harry led the way with his support in the foam pit, and Echo and Ava dominated the puzzles. We then played Laser Tag where Fletcher and Luca jumped straight into the action and were amazing while we reassured Harry the water activities were coming.

Monday night was the perfect night for a private chill out and for everyone to stay up way too late on the first night of camp. Bleary eyes were everywhere on Tuesday and Ebony and Seline could barely keep their eyes open when we started the day off with a chat about setting a morning intention and watching a video about how easy it is to set our day up.

We then went over to High Wire where Zoe and Ava were incredibly brave and Ronen pushed himself as hard as he could. The Rockwall and Tash's Ladder were also amazing, with Echo pushing himself again to give everything a go and Harry needed to be reminded again that water activities were not far away.

Thursday afternoon was also the Monster Course, where everyone was pushed through some epic challenges involving tyres, mud, cargo nets, mud, charades, mud, buckets, and a whole lot more mud, which Harry loved, and was just as well as he had been asking about it for two days straight! Tom and Hayley helped and pushed everyone through and the resilience shown by everyone was something I hope all students, especially Rihanna and Ava are incredibly proud of.

Wednesday morning saw us reflect on our time and show a bit of gratitude for what we have in our lives, before tackling the big tower with a bit of Abseiling. We then introduced everyone (except Dani) to Monty, our carpet python. We then had a bit of a chat about the week, gave our thank you’s, and had a group photo, before putting Fletcher, Rihanna, and Echo in our WWII tank then getting on the bus and saying bye.

Sarah, Liam, and I would like to thank all the students, Hayley, Aurora, Anthony, Tom, Stephen, Dani, and Amy for both playing our games and giving everything they’ve got for an amazing few days. You were incredible and we hope to see many more students from Siri visit us again in the future.
