Lyndhurst Secondary College Camp Blog

On Wednesday the 9th of November we welcome Lyndhurst Secondary College, thank you for making the trip down to The Summit.
To start camp off we got all the students to come into the lodge. We shared our Five Keys:
Have Fun
Play All In
Make Lots of Mistakes
Get Comfortable Being Uncomfortable
Don’t Go Home Wondering What If
These Five Keys would help make their camp experience go from awesome to epic.
Once we had gone over that, we made our way down to the park to play a game of 50 Up. Once our bodies were warmed up it was time to head into our groups to complete some initiatives. To the groups who completed the challenge well done. To those who didn’t, it gave us some good debriefing points to work on. After every activity the students had a debrief, to share highlights or things that they enjoyed.
The students were broken into 4 different groups.
1. Squrcals
2. Awkward silence
3. Big Gains
4. Outback’s
And then we completed multiple activities, those being flying over the lake on the Flying Fox, working together as a team whilst racing the clock at the Snowy River Challenge, and completing the tallest swing in Victoria! And racing each other in the Inflatable world. To those who pushed themselves outside of their comfort zones well done, that’s what it’s all about. It’s not about how far you go it’s about how determined you can be. As the day came to a close it was time to have some dinner and free time.
As the mornings rolled around, we set ourselves up for success by thinking about a morning intention for the day and also thinking about all the things we have to be grateful for. It was awesome to hear from all the students a few goals they set for themselves and the things/people they had to be grateful for. Win the morning won the day!
As the day ticked along there were some new activities to crush. It included balancing over the super wobbly Sky Bridge, walking over a bed of nails, and holding our pet snake Mitch. Completing a speedy lap at the Bush Challenge and navigating through our dark cold cave. Incredible efforts to everyone who hit their targets, stretches, and super stretches. That’s what it’s all about.
To finish off the day, the students got changed into clothes that could get dirty and super muddy for our Monster Course. Not only did the students run the course once but TWICE !!!! Incredible efforts to every team who improved by 4 minutes or more. Just remember when you feel like you can’t give anymore, you can. It’s not about how much you can give, it’s about doing your best and being proud of that. Fair to say all the kids were keen on dinner, resting and showers.
On the last day, the students finished strong and nominated one person who they believed lived by The Summit's Five Keys. Well done to the following people:
